Formulas used
- Three phase: kVA = 1.732 x V(line) x I(line) / 1000
- kW = kVA x power factor
- kVAR = square root of (kVA squared - kW squared)
Frequently asked questions
Is the voltage line or phase?
For three phase, enter the line-to-line voltage, for example 415 V.
What is the difference between kW and kVA?
kW is the useful power. kVA is the total power drawn, including the reactive part. They are equal only at unity power factor.
