Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 2026

I collect as little data as possible, and I never sell or share it for advertising.

What is stored

  • Account: username, e-mail address, a hashed password (never the password itself), optional name and phone number, and the time of your last sign-in. If you sign in with Google, I receive your name, e-mail address and profile picture link from Google.
  • Contact form: the name, e-mail, subject, message and IP address you send, so I can reply and prevent abuse.
  • Technical data: a session cookie to keep you signed in, an optional “remember me” cookie, a theme preference stored in your browser, a total page-visit counter and per-article view counts. To understand which pages are useful, the site uses Google Analytics (anonymous visit statistics; they may set their own cookies). They are not used on pages you open while signed in as an administrator or teacher, and they are skipped if your browser sends “Do Not Track”. There is no advertising.
  • “Live now”: to show how many people are on the site, a random code made from your visit (not your IP address or name) is kept for a day and counted while it was used in the last five minutes. Search-engine robots are not counted.
  • Guests (not signed in): when you take a quiz or send a game score without an account, the site gives your browser a random guest ID in a cookie (sg_guest, kept for two years) and saves a guest name made of your browser, your system and the last part of your IP address (for example “Guest · Chrome · Android · 142”). The ID links your quiz result and your game scores to this browser so a test can be taken only once; the guest name is shown on leaderboards. The full IP address is not stored with it. Clearing your cookies makes you a new guest. To have a guest record removed, contact me with the guest name and the time you played.

Security

Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Sign-in attempts are rate-limited. The website is served over HTTPS.

Your choices

You can edit your details on your profile page. To have your account or a message deleted, contact me and I will remove it.

Third parties

Article thumbnails may be loaded from other websites, which can see your IP address when your browser fetches them. Sign-in with Google is optional and subject to Google’s own privacy policy.
